The Vive Standalone will be powered by Snapdragon 835 mobile VR platform. The VR headset will neither require a PC or a smartphone and is completely wireless. HTC is also building a content rich library for China, similar to how it had done with the initial Vive VR launch. Vive was unveiled in 2015 and is a joint effort by HTC and Valve corporation to bring an optimized for room-scale VR blended with true-to-life interactions. HTC is also striving hard to culture the VR ecosystem and its for this reason that it has Vive X, a $100 million accelerator for VR and associated technologies. Since the Vive Standalone is already listed on the US website, it’s quite possible that HTC might bring the VR headset to the other parts of the world as well.
